I recently picked up three TONYMOLY facemasks from Luxplus (each priced at £2.25 with the Luxplus membership discount, which is free for 30-days), and wanted to do a little review of them. I’ve been a big fan of sheet masks for a while now due to their hydrating properties. I’ve also used a TONYMOLY cleanser before (which I may review soon) that I loved, so I had high expectations of their sheet masks. Thankfully, they did not disappoint.
Each mask is made of 100% cotton. This is excellent news to anybody who suffers from sensitive skin, as other sheet masks can contain ingredients which aggravate the skin. Luckily, the 100% cotton blend of these masks means they’re safe for use with most (if not all) skin types.
The first of the three TONYMOLY masks I tried was the ‘Hyaluronic Mask Sheet’. I was attracted by the mention of hyaluronic acid as this product has proven to be very hydrating for the skin. I’d previously only used hyaluronic acid in a topical solution form from The Ordinary, so I was excited to give the mask a go!
I didn’t take any pictures of the sheet masks because they look exactly like every other sheet mask. There really isn’t anything that exciting going on, I’m afraid. The masks are saturated in essence (a good thing!) and provide a nice layer of hydration for the skin. The mask doesn’t have a discernable scent which I would say is a positive thing: perfumes often cause problems with the skin so I tend to stray away from anything artificially scented. The mask hydrated my skin nicely, however, I do not think it is the same as applying topical hyaluronic acid to the skin. I find applying the actual product to be much more effective given that you apply it multiple times daily, whereas a mask you tend to only do a few times a week. If you don’t currently use a hyaluronic acid product or have never used one then I recommend this mask to see how your skin finds it!
The second mask I tried was the ‘Collagen Mask Sheet’. This mask promises to bring back elasticity to the skin through the inclusion of collagen. As with the previous mask, this one doesn’t have a particularly strong scent. The essence is in abundance with this mask meaning your skin will feel super moisturised when you’re done. Whilst I wouldn’t say that I noticed any massively noticeable differences in the elasticity of my skin, my face did definitely appear brighter, hydrated, and dewier than before. It also looked a little plumper, which may be the collagen taking effect. For the low price of £2.25 which I got this product for it does the job and leaves skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The last of the three masks was the one I was most excited for. Honestly, anything that promises to brighten my skin is a win in my book. This is the ‘Pearl Mask Sheet’, and it claims to brighten skin. As with the other two masks, this has no particular scent and comes with a nice amount of essence. There’s even a little bit left in the packet that you can squeeze out and apply to the mask if you’re extra like me. After about 20 minutes, the sheet mask has dried and is ready to take off. Much like the other masks, whilst on the product feels very refreshing. Skin feels awake and replenished in terms of moisture, and looks brighter when the mask is removed. I can say that this mask did brighten up my complexion and give my skin a more even tone! I was really happy with the results, especially coming from such a well-priced product.
Overall, if I were to recommend only one of these masks, it would be the final mask. All three masks are great products, especially for their price, and I’m sure that they will work differently on other skin types. The brightening mask was the only one that I took off and could notice an effect on my skin. Perhaps the other two had more subtle effects that I didn’t notice. Nevertheless, the TONYMOLY Pureness 100 collection is a great and relatively cheap way of incorporating sheet masks into your skin routine. I definitely recommend this product as an affordable introduction into the world of sheet masks.
